Incline Pines delivery crew steals owners’ prized carvings

Doorbell video shows two men delivering products to an Incline Pines home– then stealing two large bear carvings from a neighbor.

Dave and Anita Kempler, owners of Unit 2, are asking for the community’s help in identifying two men who stole a pair of bear carvings at their front entry late Friday night.

The episode begins at 11:36 pm with two men delivering two bags of products apparently from Walgreens on the front porch of Unit 1. Although the delivery seems to be legitimate, one of the men expresses confusion about the address and, in fact, the residents of Unit 1 say they did not order anything Friday night.

The video shows that as the men prepare to leave, one casually asks his partner “can I take one of the bears?” The other man replies “take the good one.” A few moments later they agree to take a second bear and then they drive away with both carvings in what appears to be a sedan.

Video evidence from another camera at Incline Pines suggests the men took the shortest route to their destination by driving into the community from the nearby exit.

Dave and Anita filed a report with the Washoe County sheriff’s office and are asking for information from other residents who might have placed a delivery order last night that they never received– which would identify the name of the service and potentially the name of at least one of the thieves.

If you have any information to share, please post in the comments below.

HOA board president Heidi Burton says this is a good reminder for all of us to be careful with items we leave outside our homes as they may present too much of a temptation for casual thieves.

  1. This is absolutely terrible!! The footage should be able to capture these guys from Walgreens. What is wrong with people?!! I hope they get fined and fired from their jobs. Inexcusable!!
